Filipino Crabs

We must avoid crab mentality.
"Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up..." -1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)

A man who is selling crabs stopped and talk to a lady vendor in a market. He left his big basket full of crabs just along the street.

A foreigner-tourist saw it and approach the man saying:

"Hey, why you just left your crabs over there. They might go up the basket and went away."

The man, not worrying about his crabs answered back:

"Oh, thank you sir for the concern. But don't worry about them. They are Filipino Crabs!"

We might find the story so shameful among us filipinos, but it is somehow true. Most of us are like crabs, when we see others going up, we tried our best to bring them down again. Let us then avoid crab mentality.

Live the mentality of Christ, "Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." -Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV)

Prayer:

Lord, may I be happy when others grow and succeed. Amen.
